Jo Ann (Grace) Tapp Chadwell

Jo Ann (Grace) Tapp Chadwell
January 19, 1937 ~ January 2, 2024

Jo Ann Tapp Chadwell of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 86. Jo Ann was born on January 19, 1937 in Compton, California. She was the daughter of Holloway and Mary (Thomas) Grace. Jo Ann married John Dale Tapp on June 27, 1953 and the couple were married for twenty-eight years until he preceded her in death in March of 1981. Together the family made their home in California for many years. They raised five children. In 1975, the family moved to Oklahoma, where they made their home in Paden, before buying a farm north of Prague.

Jo Ann had a heart for serving others. For many years, she fed people, either in her home kitchen or at the Dairy Mart in Prague, that she owned and operated for many years. She took joy in seeing that everyone was taken care of and got just what they wanted. Jo Ann was also known for her green thumb. She spent many hours tending to her garden and many plants.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of twenty-eight years, John Dale Tapp; her parents; her sons-in-law, Phil Adams and Terry Gouker; her daughter-in-law, Laura Tapp; her brothers, Jackie Cecil Grace and Robert Grace and her sisters, Janet Grace and Wanda Jane Avila.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, John Steven Tapp of Prague and Dennis Craig Tapp of Newport News, Virginia; three daughters, Jeanne Gail Adams of Lake View, Washington, Jo Ellen Gouker of Prague and Judi Lynne Smith and her husband, Gregg, of Prague; her sister, Christina Townsend; twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague. An online guestbook is available at www.parksbrothers.net .
