Samie Dale Caswell was born February 8, 1924 in Wheeler, Texas to Mabel Belle and John Drayton Childress. She passed away January 22, 2015 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 14 days.
Samie grew up in Allison, Texas where she attended school and was an honor student. She was married to Howard Caswell at Allison, Texas on December 9, 1939. They lived in Wheeler, Texas until 1963 when they moved to Sayre, Oklahoma to make their home. Samie was a rancher's wife and a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother. Her family was her life and she loved cooking and caring for all of them. She loved working in the garden and was active in the Home Demonstration Club, the Lone Oak Baptist Church and Sayre First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Donna Kay Moore, 1 grandson, Daylon Dewayne Dunlap, and 2 great grandsons, Austin and Justin Hogan, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Carol Jean Hogan and husband, Gaylon, Denison, TX; Phyllis Gale Massey and husband, William, Flower Mound, TX and Debra Dale Morris, Elk City, OK; a son-in-law, Darrell Moore, Amarillo, TX; 11 grandchildren, Rocky, Wade, Cheryl, Jamie, Darla, Judy, David, Ted, Heath and Chanda, Drayton, 21 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a loving niece, Helen Dyson and husband, Richard, Sayre, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Monday, January 26, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Sayre First Baptist Church officiated by Andy Taylor. Burial will follow at the Wheeler Cemetery, Wheeler, Texas under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
