Kathi Infield Castro, 65, passed away on June 26, 2022, at The Journey Home Hospice in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Kathi was born on March 22, 1957, in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Joe Infield and Billie Nave. During her school years, she attended several different schools but always felt Barnsdall was her home. She graduated from Barnsdall High School in 1975. Later in life, she returned to her studies and earned her associate's degree in Medical Billing. It was no surprise that she was top in her class, she always set a good example of how to give something your all.
For most of her life, Kathi was an entrepreneur that was decades ahead of her time. She and her husband, John Castro, founded their company Five Feathers. Five Feathers was a vision of John & Kathi’s to create something for their family. For years, Kathi honed her skills and established Five Feathers as a brand that was recognized and appreciated. She pioneered mobile screen-printing in the local area, providing promotional garments at events through Oklahoma and the surrounding states. These days she would be referred to as a Graphic Designer, but she did it all with paper and pens. Her children remember many trips to Tulsa looking at fonts and different colors of ink. But her favorite job was being a mother. She took great pride in raising her children and grandchildren. She participated in Girl Scouts with her daughter Laura. When her son’s wrestled, Kathi would print t-shirts at the events so that she could be present and support them while still growing her business. She helped coach her daughter’s softball team. These are just a few examples of the many memories her kids have from their childhood.
Of Kathi’s many interests, her life couldn’t be clearly defined without discussing motorcycles and family. For all their life, John and Kathi traveled many roads together on their Harley. Whether up to Sturgis or down to Santa Cruz, many memories were made on two wheels. When she was home, gardening was a favorite pastime of Kathi. Years of strawberry harvests and memories of her redbud’s blooms fill us with happy memories of big smiles. And if you ever spent time at the Castro residence, then there is a good chance that you got to enjoy Kathi’s enchiladas. Any time there was an event, her meals were probably the main attraction. Birthday parties, bike blessings, and celebrations all were opportunities for her to share her love via home-cooked meals.
Her brother Bub passed away a few years ago. They were the only siblings, and she helped raise him as a good big sister.
She is survived by her father, Joe Infield; her husband of 45 years, John Castro; her children, John, Joseph, and Laura; and five grandchildren that will miss her so dearly.
