Melba Allene (Aulds) Cash, born May 16, 1931, to Lemond Aldeen Aulds and Ruby Lillian (Hendrix) Aulds in Choudrant, Louisiana.
Melba’s joy was her three children, “Jeannie Gal” (Williams) Merrill, Donna Marie (Williams) Lile, and Richard Alan Williams. Each of them predeceased her and she missed them sorely the rest of her life.
Though Melba held various jobs throughout her life, her natural talent for sewing was the one thing that brought her the most satisfaction. She crafted many beautiful prom dresses and wedding gowns for her family and friends and smart looking clothes for herself. Wherever she went you could often hear her called “Aunt Melba” by family and friends alike. She also became a pretty good golfer after she married her husband, L.B. and she could always be counted on to enjoy a good board game or game of cards. In the circle of her family, she was most famous for her peanut butter candy and the unconditional love she gave. She often said that if she couldn’t figure out how to do something, she would sleep on it and God Himself would show her how to get it done.
At a revival in a small Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Melba accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of twelve. She remembered walking home on clouds that night, and she often said He took care of her the rest of her life; even when she was so angry about losing Donna at an early age. She drew closer to the Lord in 1984 and maintained a rich relationship with Him until he took her Home.
Having lived in various places over her long life, she settled in the McClain County community and joined the Union Hill Baptist Church during a revival in 2008. She had a very special bond with her church family, including pastors and staff members. Melba attended the Union Hill Widows Card Club weekly for some time, then hosted it in her home when she could no longer travel with her oxygen.
Melba is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Verna Mae Hungerford and Nellie Rhoades; two brothers Raymond Hubert Aulds and Monty Max Maxwell; her children; her loving husband L.B. Cash and sons, Ron Cash and Rick Cash; and one great-granddaughter Mercedes Cash.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Large; granddaughters April LaDawn Hill, Chastity Horton, Debi Large, Patti Binger, Monica Walton, Carla Coker, and Mandy Davison; grandsons Charles “Trace” W. Merrill III, Thomas Gene Merrill, and Jason Allen Merrill, and Barry Cash; great-grandchildren October Merrill, Autumn Merrill, Rilley Merrill, Jacob Merrill, Skylar Merrill, Christopher Merrill, Phoebe Weidner, Samuel Hill, Katherine Hill, Ruby Hill, Brandon Pfeifle, Allyson Pfeifle, Madison Pfeifle, Dylan Cash, Stormi Cash, Jazmine Cash, Denver Davison, Kamryn Davison, Brody Walton, Ben Coker and Kate Coker, and a host of loving family and friends. She touched the lives of so many people who will remember her laughter, her kindness, and her love.
There will be a memorial service at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Purcell, Oklahoma. Memorial service is under the direction of Union Hill Baptist Church of Purcell. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard, Oklahoma. The church will be receiving flowers for the service from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 17, 2023, and from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., Saturday, February 18, 2023.
