Gerald Case, 69 year old Woodward resident died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at his home in Woodward. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Gerald James Case was born on July 17, 1945 in Brookhaven, Mississippi to James R. "Jake" and Ruby Cleo (Smith) Case. Gerald was raised in Brookhaven, Mississippi and attended school in Brookhaven. He served in the National Guard from 1966 until 1972. In 1975, he relocated to Woodward, and began working as a truck driver for his Uncle Whitney Smith. Gerald continued to work in the oilfield for various companies over the years including, Jerry Pinkley, Rine Drilling, J&R Transport, Hamm and Phillips, and most recently, Jericho Services where he had been employed since 2007. Gerald was a hard worker throughout his life, including the last day of his life.
Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to laugh and always maintained a good sense of humor. Gerald enjoyed cooking and took great pride in his work. He found great joy in his family. Gerald was a loyal and honest man who was exceptionally sentimental and always worried about others before himself.
In 1989 he met his future wife, Lissa Groendyke. Gerald and Lissa were married on June 28, 1994. They made their home in Woodward. Gerald had some of the best years of his life during his relationship with Lissa.
Gerald was preceded in death by his father, mother, a younger sibling, and a child.
He is survived by his wife Lissa Case of the home in Woodward; his sons, James Russell "Rusty" Case and wife Jamie of Mississippi, Lance Frederick and wife Maria, of Woodward, Garrett Case of Woodward; his daughters, Lisa Case of Mississippi; Michelle Beaner and husband David of Woodward; Jennifer Case and husband Bruce McGrew of Chickasha; two sisters, Ernestine Gatlin and husband Lee Edward, Irma Jean Ross and husband Roland all of Mississippi; 15 grandchildren, Leanne, Jake, Michael, Matthew, Britney, all of Mississippi and Cali, Laynee, Caleb, Cooper, Emily, Camille, Joel, Daniel, Melody, and Matthew all of Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerald had a lot of great friends. He was of Christian beliefs and is no doubt celebrating in Heaven with Christ and those who have gone on before him.
In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to the American Heart Association with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
