In 1990, the Carters moved to Aline, OK. Tilford worked in the auto parts industry, and his job brought them to Fairview in 1995 where they raised their children. Tilford and Janet moved back to Aline, OK in 2007.

Tilford is preceded in death by his father Tilford Springer. He is survived in death by his mother Christa and husband Mike Rushing of Fairview, his loving wife Janet Carter of Fairview, daughter Rachel and husband Zack Ramay of Fairview, son TJ and wife Brooke Carter of Fairview, daughter Tiffany and husband Montie Barton of Fairview, brother Sidney Carter of Enid, sister Carol and husband Gene Free of Mangham, LA, brother Chris and wife Kendrea Carter of Fairview, sister Lorie and husband Jeromy Haines of Fairview, brother Michael and wife Emily Bach of Fairview, 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tilford loved racing of any kind, fishing, and spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He was everyone’s rock. It didn’t matter if you were a stranger, Tilford would go out of his way to help you. His family was his world. His face lit up every time he saw his kids and grandkids. Tilford’s number one priority was Janet. He lived to take care of her and make sure she had everything she needed. He was a very proud husband, father, and Papaw. Now he is in heaven doing his favorite thing, fishing.
