Kenneth Carter was born June 14, 1943 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Allie Mae and Jesse Carter. He passed away June 21, 2016 surrounded by his family at his home in Sayre at the age of 73 years and 7 days.
Kenneth grew up in Sayre and graduated from Sayre High School in 1961. He went on to attend college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he played football on full scholarship. He was married to Diane Hanni at Sayre, Oklahoma on June 12, 1964. Kenneth served his country with the US Army from July 1966 to July 1968 and was stationed in Fort Lee, Virginia. While stationed in Virginia, Kenneth and Diane had their first child, a daughter, Melinda Kim. After his discharge, the family moved to Wheeler, Texas where Kenneth was the Store Manager for Pucketts Grocery. Kenneth and Diane had their second child, a son, Keith Dale in 1969 while residing in Wheeler. The family would later move to Cordell where Kenneth would also serve as Store Manager for Pucketts Grocery. They would go on to have their third and last child, a son, Kyle Grant in 1973. The family moved to Sayre in 1976 where Kenneth was promoted to General Manager of Pucketts Grocery and continued in the role until retiring in 2015. Kenneth loved OU Football and anything OU related. He also loved the OKC Thunder and was a big Dodger Fan. He loved nothing more than being with his wife of 52 years, his children, grandkids and great grandchild.
Kenneth was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Travis Carter, 2 sisters, Clenice Robertson and Janice Kingham.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Diane of the home; 3 children, Kim Tatyrek and husband, Leon, Keith Carter and wife, Misty, and Kyle Carter, all of Sayre, OK; 3 grandchildren, Cameron Carter, Alyssa Carter and Kade Carter, a great grandchild, Easton Carter; his brothers and sister, Kermit Carter of Sayre, OK, Bobby Carter of Sayre, OK, L. L. Carter of Elk City, OK and Corene Kingham, of Panhandle, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.
