Brandon Paul Ottis Carson, age 30, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away Monday, October 28, 2013. Brandon became part of our family on January 20, 1984. He filled our lives with joy and happiness for thirty years. It was God’s will that he be taken from us far too early in his life.
His loss is unimaginable but we can find comfort and peace knowing his pain and suffering have ended. No longer is he limited by a body and mind that long ago began to fail him. His courageous battle with the brain tumor was long and difficult but Brandon had an inner strength that helped him cope with one crushing blow after another.
Brandon grew up loving to play sports. He excelled at soccer and had a tremendous passion for boxing, compiling a record of 30-3-2. From an early age, Brandon loved to interact with small children with an uncanny ability to make them laugh and feel special. Brandon joined the United States Navy in 2002, but was required to take a medical discharge after the discovery of his brain tumor.
He is survived by his parents, Dan and Bobbi Ottis; his three brothers, Matthew Ottis and his wife Lauren Ottis and their two children, Jalin Ottis and Christopher Ottis, Zac Ottis, and Conner Ottis; grandmothers, Naomi Rother and Joan Ottis; his constant canine companion, Sam; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His family would like to thank the many health care professionals that touched his life. Special thank you to Norman Regional Health System, the special team of ICU nurses, Dr. Amy Bacchus, Dr. James Duncan, Dr. Joe Voto, Dr. Maril Weber, and Chaplains’, Susan Beam, Mike Bumgarner and Father Scott Boeckman.
Brandon, the demons are gone, your pain and suffering are over and the bright light of God shines on your soul for all eternity.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., November 2, 2013 in the Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street, Norman, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in honor of Brandon Paul Ottis Carson with Norman Regional Health Foundation, 901 North Porter, Norman, Oklahoma 73071.
Arrangements for Brandon and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Online condolences may be shared at www.HavenbrookFuneralHome.com.
