Joan Marie (Arnold) Carpenter

Joan Marie (Arnold) Carpenter
1925 ~ 2018

Joan peacefully went to join her eternal family while under the care of Saint Simeon's in Tulsa, OK. She began her vibrant life in Iola, KS as the only child of Frank H. and Velma M. (Sleeper) Arnold.

Joan was an alumna of Classen High School (Oklahoma City, OK) and the University of Oklahoma. After marrying Robert H. Carpenter in 1948, they made their home in OKC, where they also raised their two children, Leslie and Rob. While living in the city, Joan enjoyed her years working as an administrative assistant for the Meade Oil Corporation. When retirement became an option, the couple moved to the Lake Tenkiller area. Here, Joan fully embraced living the lake life of boating, birding, gardening, painting and being involved in the community (Gore Methodist Church, Boys Ranch, Master Gardeners, Fin and Feather Art Association, PEO and DAR). Joan's sense of adventure took her to Europe, cruises around the Caribbean, Canada, the British Isles and to one of her favorite cities - Santa Fe, NM. She spent her last years near her daughter in Bartlesville, OK. Joan had great fun leading the local chapter of the Red Hat Society, which fit her feisty personality perfectly! Joan lived her life true to herself and without many regrets.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Leslie Daniel, and her two grandchildren, Jenn and Jeremy and their families. Joan has now rejoined her parents, husband and son.

A service in celebration of Joan Carpenter's life will be held at the Gore United Methodist Church Friday March 9th, 2018 at 11am in Gore, Oklahoma with Pastor Bill Buttram and Reverend Marsha Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan's memory may be made to the Gore United Methodist Church, P. 0. Box 273, Gore, OK 74435 or the Alzheimer's Association Oklahoma Chapter, 2448 E. 81st Street, Suite 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137-4250.
