Lindy Lynn Carmack

September 6, 1930 - January 28, 2011

  Lindy Lynn Carmack, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011 at his home. He was 80 years of age.

Lindy was born September 6, 1930 at Muskogee, Oklahoma, the son of LeAnder and Jesse Carmack. He attended schools in Missouri and was inducted in the United States Army on February 21, 1952. He served a tour of duty in Germany and was honorably discharged from the Army on February 3, 1954, later serving in the Army Reserve. He was married to Wilma Shields on December 21, 1956 in Ponca City. He was employed as a home builder with his brotherinlaw, Paul Hodde, later working for Lee and Bill Tapp. He was later employed at the Blackwell Zinc Smelter and then retired with the Mertz Corporation.

His enjoyments in earlier years were fishing and hunting and in later years gardening and working around the home and spending time with his wife, Wilma.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma, of the home one son Rocky Carmack and wife, Lisa ,of Lakeland, Florida one daughter, Robin Johnson of Mustang, Oklahoma Kyle Carmack, Kaleb Carmack Casey Johnson and wife RaeAnna and Jason Johnson and wife, Alisa, and Jacob Johnson Bri and Kali, Jazmine, and Johnny DiCristo. One great granddaughter, Elia Rae Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents one brother, Gale Carmack and one sister, Neva Hodde.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2011 at the First Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor David Bigger presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
