Lawrence Blane Carlton, Jr., was born October 4, 1934 in Morris, Oklahoma to Lawrence and Alice (Fish) Carlton. Jr. received his call to heaven on September 2, 2012 in Westville, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years. There he joins his parents, grandson Kile Bradley Carlton, and his precious daughter in law; Rhonda Carlton, a wonderful son in law; David Nelson as well as many other relatives and friends.
Jr was a 1954 graduate of Westville High School. In 1955 he joined the United States Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Piedmont a supply and ammunition carrier. On December 24, 1957 Jr married his high school sweetheart; Shirley Sweet in Seattle. Washington and to this union 4 children were born. After his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1959 the two came back to Westville and made their home until his death.
Jr leaves behind his loving wife Shirley of 54 years, 2 daughters; Sherry Nelson of Gentry, AR, Shelley Phillips and husband Ellis, 2 sons; Sheldon Carlton and wife Angela and Shannon Carlton all of Westville, OK, grandchildren; Holly Johnson and husband Matt of Springdale, AR, Sandi Cole and husband Chris, Steven Carlton and Stephanie all of Siloam Springs, AR, Cale Millis of Springdale, AR, Camille Blessman and husband Ryan, Cody Carlton and wife Amber, Mercedee, McKenlee, and Weston Carlton all of Westville, OK. 3 great grandchildren; Kaleb Sousley, Trevor Cole and Elizabeth Blessman, 1 aunt; Christa Carlton of Kansas, OK, cousin Jerry Carlton of Mountain Home, AR, sister; Colleen Kuehn and 1 nephew; Jerome Kuehn, other relatives and many friends also survive him.
Memorial services were held at 2 pm on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the Tabernacle of Praise, Westville, OK with Rev. Chris Harrison officiating.
