Thomas Alan Carlisle passed away on June 1, 2023, at the age of 72. He was born Thomas Alan Lounsbury to Charles Brooks Lounsbury and Edith Dale Kadel on March 12, 1951 at Mitchell Field, Long Island, NY.
After the untimely death of his father while stationed at Madill AFB in Tampa, FL, the family moved to Kansas City, KS. In 1961 his mother married Byron Addison Carlisle. In 1963 after the family moved to El Dorado, KS, Tom began using his stepfather’s surname.
Tom graduated from Kansas State University in 1973 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Tom took a job in industrial process engineering in Memphis, TN, where he met the love of his life, Denise (Denny) Hannan.
They were married in Mound City, IL, on September 17, 1977. They moved to Bartlesville, OK in 1980 where Tom worked for Phillips Petroleum, ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 for 34 years. He worked in areas including process engineering, pilot plant management, technical management and facilities engineering.
He was a licensed professional engineer for 40 years. He was very active in technical and professional societies. Tom was a long-time volunteer in the MATHCOUNTS program at the local, state, and national levels. He served for many years on the board of the National MATHCOUNTS Foundation in Arlington, VA. He was a licensed amateur radio operator starting at the age of 14.
In retirement, he and Denny enjoyed traveling. He will be remembered as caring and kind.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Denny, his two sons, Brian (Anna) and Chad (Samantha), and his two grandsons, Braden and Redd. He is also survived by his sister, Linda (Gordon) Ziegler and brother, Michael Carlisle.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Bartlesville, OK on June 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. An interment service will be held later in the day. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to The Journey Home located at 900 Washington Blvd. Bartlesville, OK 74006, or to the charity of your choice.
