Charles "Martin" Carl
January 11, 1931 ~ September 10, 2023

The celebration of life for Charles "Martin" Carl, 92-year-old Enid resident, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023, in the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Marcy Carl will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Charles "Martin" was born in Douglas, Oklahoma, on January 11, 1931, to Lloyd and Lala (Long) Carl and died Sunday, September 10, 2023, in The Commons in Enid. He was Baptized at Christian Union Church in Douglas, Oklahoma, on August 6, 1944, by Rev. Darrel Wayne Donahue.

Martin attended Douglas schools, graduating in 1949. He attended one semester at Oklahoma A&M until being drafted into the Korean War, where he served in Alaska as a Corporal in the Artillery Division of the U.S. Army.

He married Kay Donna Shults on September 4, 1955, at Waukomis Methodist Church. Upon his discharge from the Army, he worked in the accounting department for Champlin Petroleum, working in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas until his retirement in 1986. He worked as a bookkeeper at S&Q Clothiers for 2 years before going to work at the Garfield County Treasurer's Office, retiring from there in 2014.

He was a deacon and Elder at First Presbyterian Church and a member of the American Legion and Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife Kay, of the home; three children: Judy Kay (Mike) Helberg of Enid, Kathy Elaine (Melvin) Grantz of Covington, Oklahoma, and Bruce Martin Carl (Marcy) of Georgetown, South Carolina; four Grandsons: Brian (Jenna) Helberg, Jedidiah (Heather) Helberg, Jeremy Donnell (Brittney) and Nicholas (Rebecca) Donnell; two great-granddaughters: Ryan Donnell and Harper Chancellor; nine great-grandsons: Drake Donnell, Brady Helberg, Sawyer Donnell, Bentley Helberg, Landon Helberg, Brooks Helberg, Bode Donnell, Bowen Helberg, and Asher Helberg; and sister Norma Ruth Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two great-grandchildren: Lily Helberg and Maddox Helberg; and one brother: Bruce Wesley Carl.

Memorials may be made to ESPCA or Hospice Circle of Love. The family will be at 40 Old Post Lane from Wednesday through the Memorial Service.
