Meredith Fern (Thomas) Carinder
July 15, 1924 ~ November 14, 2019 (age 95)

Meredith Fern (Thomas) Carinder, 95, passed through the gates of Heaven, Thursday, November 14, 2019 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

She was born in Independence, Kansas on July 15, 1924 to Roy and Pearl Thomas, Vaudevillian actors.

She graduated in Ohio and went on to sing in shows on the stage and on the radio, making several records of beloved gospel music and operatic arias.

The family moved from Ohio to Henryetta, Oklahoma where she met and married her life-long love, Joe Garnet Carinder, Sr. Joe and Meredith were married on September 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 2013. They would move to Tulsa, Oklahoma and build a family and dear friends for the next 65 years.

She was a woman of strong faith who loved singing and enjoyed, sewing, knitting, cooking and sweet tea.

She is preceded into the house of our Lord by her husband, Joe G. Carinder, Sr.; her parents, Roy and Pearl Thomas; a brother, Earl Miller of Ohio; and 2 of her children, infant sons, Kenneth and John Carinder; and 1 brother-in-law, Don McDowell.

She is celebrated in life by her children, Robin Meredith Carinder-Loveless of Tecumseh, OK and Joe G. Carinder, Jr. of Tulsa, OK; sister, Betty McDowell of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Peggy Carinder of Edmond, OK; sister-in-law, Reta Good of Minneapolis, MN; many beloved nieces and nephews and friends around the states; also the loves of her life her 3 grandchildren, Aubry Jo Bennett-Loveless of Tecumseh, OK, Jodi M. Loveless of Tecumseh, OK and Joanna L. Carinder of MO; 2 great-grandchildren, Tyler Bryton Bennett and Nicholas Jacob Bennett; and several great-grandfurbabies.

“I’ll walk with God from this day on, His helping hand, I’ll lean upon, this is my prayer, my humble plea, may the Lord be ever with me.”

Cremation arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. There will be no viewing.
