Shelly Denise (Byrd) Carey

Shelly Denise (Byrd) Carey
August 14, 1973 ~ May 10, 2022

Shelly Denise Byrd Carey, 48, went to her Heavenly home to be with her Lord on May 10, 2022, at her home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Her firm belief and devotion to God guided her through her life and battles.

Shelly was born to Sammy and Lillie Mae Byrd on August 14, 1973. She met the love of her life and her “Sugar Bear”, Timothy Carey in 1992. They were married on February 14, 2000. Together they had 2 children, Marissa Marie Carey, and Eli Jordan Carey.

She enjoyed reading God’s word and attending church services. She also loved family and church family gatherings. Her weekend hobbies included mostly yard sales and long drives to admire God’s beauty. Shelly, a prayer warrior, enjoyed any chance to be able to worship and sing praises to God and always kept her faith. She kept her prayer list updated daily, which included people she didn't even know.

Shelly was preceded in death by her beloved father: Sammy Byrd; her grandmothers: Elsie Vann, and Betty Byrd; her grandfathers: Andy Riddle, and John Byrd; her uncles: Gene Riddle, Albert Vann, Leon Carey, Ocie Byrd, Wesley Byrd, Fabian Byrd; and aunts: Janie Grayson, Laura Bunch, and Lila Gonzales.

Shelly is survived by her husband: Timothy of the home; her daughter: Marissa of the home; her son: Eli of Tahlequah. Her mother: Lillie Mae of Tahlequah; one sister: Udie Soap and husband Larry Don of Bunch; 5 brothers: Jimmy Dale Riddle and wife Toni of Stilwell, Jerry Byrd, Gary Byrd, Kevin Byrd and companion Amanda of Tahlequah, and Sammy Byrd, Jr. Three handsome grandsons: Peyton Jordan Yoder, Echota RedBird Budder, and Spencer Carey. Special aunt and uncle: Mike and Marie Starr of Stilwell. She is also survived by numerous extended family, including in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, family, church family, and friends.

Shelly will be dearly missed, and her love and faith will live on through each of those that knew her.

Funeral Service was held 2:00 PM, Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Roberts-Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel in Stilwell, OK.
