Private family service for Art Capper will be held. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

William Arthur Capper Jr. was born on March 22, 1932 in Enid, Oklahoma to William Arthur Capper Sr. and Bessie May Hays Capper and died on April 27, 2020 in Enid.

He grew up in Enid and later joined the U.S. Navy, because he wanted to serve his country. After serving in the Navy, he returned to Enid. Art worked at the flour mill then became a meat cutter for Safeway and Homeland Supermarkets. On June 30, 1976, he married Arlene Mayfield in Arizona.

Art was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He was a member of Knights of Columbus #1044. Art was a volunteer cook for many years at Our Daily Bread. He was a very caring man with a “Santa Clause” heart. Art enjoyed fishing, traveling and camping. He loved to cook and spend time in his garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, two brothers, and stepson.

Art is survived by his wife, Arlene; children, William Arthur Capper III, Sharrell Hempfling, Patricia Becker, and Nancy Garthe; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Our Daily Bread or Enid SPCA.
