Mary Sylvia (Lovato) Cantrell

Mary Sylvia (Lovato) Cantrell
July 4, 1945 ~ October 9, 2021

Mary Sylvia Cantrell, daughter of Joe and Reynie Lovato, was born on July 4, 1945, in Los Pinos, New Mexico.

A few years after she was born her family moved to Hazelton, Kansas, where she would attend school until graduation. Following high school she attended college in Wichita, Kansas. When she received her business degree, she immediately got hired to work at Murdock Electric. She later moved back to Kiowa, Kansas, where she worked numerous years at Kuntz Implement as office administrator until they closed their business. Following her employment, with her business degree, she went to work at Kiowa District Hospital for 40 years, retiring in December 2019.

One of Mary's favorite pastimes was taking care of all her flowers. Her children and grandchildren always referred to her as achieving her own "botanical gardens!"

Never one to back down, Mary successfully raised four children on her own. Mary loved nothing more than following her grandchildren in their sporting events and other activities. She was passionate about her family.

Mary passed away October 9, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center at the age of 76. She was surrounded by her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Reynie Lovato, and two sisters, Janie Archuleta and Frances Salazar.

Mary will be deeply missed by her lifetime companion, Jim Greenwood.
