Funeral Service for Jimmie Jewell (Vandiver) Cantrell, 88, of Roland, Oklahoma will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Ft. Smith National Cemetery at 1:00 PM in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
She was born on October 13, 1931 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Myrtle Irene (West) Adair and Jewell Jefferson Vandiver and passed away on January 12, 2020 in Roland, Oklahoma. She was married to Roy Leslie Cantrell on April 18, 1949 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2004. She was baptized into Christ on January 30, 1955 by John Ballard at the Church of Christ in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She started her banking career at Bank of Commerce in Stilwell, Oklahoma in 1965. After 20 years in the banking field she retired from Federal Savings and Loan of Fort Smith, Arkansas in May 1985. After retirement she worked as a Tour Escort for LK & Company, in Wagoner, Oklahoma for six years.
Survivors are: 5 children: Curtis Ray Cantrell and Judy of Clinton, MS, Janice Faye Cantrell of Roland, OK, Pat Cantrell of Roland, OK, Leslie Dewayne Cantrell of Roland, OK and Lorri Sue (Cantrell) Matlock of Muldrow, OK 8 grandchildren: Jeffrey Willard Davis, Brent Dewayne Davis, Kristal Dylan (Cantrell) Grounds, Heath Dewayne Cantrell, Jody Wayne Cantrell, Matthew Tyler Matlock, Lauren Brooke Matlock and Mallory Rebekah Sloan 14 great-grandchildren: Jacob Cantrell, Alex Cantrell, David Cantrell, Levi Davis, Zachary Grounds, Joshua Waack, Hali Cantrell, Madison Nicole Cantrell, Josten Tyler Henson, Alexandra Matlock, Kennedy Matlock, Elijah Matlock, Graham Cooper Sloan and Finn Parker Sloan 2 sisters: Mary Frances (Adair) Hensley of Tahlequah, OK and Darlene (Vandiver) Moore of Garland, TX sister-in-law: Judy Gail (Stevens) Adair of Hinton, OK numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Leslie; mother, Irene Adair; father, Jewell Jefferson Vandiver; 5 brothers, Earl, Byrl, Edward Lewis, Danny Joe and Walter Scott “Scottie” Adair, Jr.; and 4 sisters, Anita Jean (Vandiver) Ray, Nina Lou (Adair) Hudson, Eula Marie (Adair) Hunter and Thadda Sue (Adair) Horn. Active Pallbearers will be Jeff Davis, Matthew Matlock, Cory Sloan, Ron Hudson, John Horn and Charley Jones.
Viewing will be 10 AM - 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, Oklahoma where family will greet 6 - 8 PM.
