Debra Lea (Yates) Cannon

Debra Lea (Yates) Cannon
June 15, 1952 ~ March 16, 2020

The family visitation has been canceled. We will reschedule during a time when more friends and family can get together and remember Debra.

Debra Lea Yates Cannon, 67, of Ponca City, OK, passed away on March 16, 2020. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

Debbie was born in Guymon, Oklahoma on June 12, 1952, to parents, Vernon and Barbara (Kimbell) Yates. Her sister, Ruth Ann, was waiting on her at home. The family moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico when Vernon accepted a position as the basketball coach. Debbie started her education in Las Cruces. Another coaching move led the family to Fairfax, Oklahoma, when Debbie was a fourth grader. Debbie loved the small-town life and made great friends in Fairfax. In the fall of 1970, Debbie's senior year, the family moved to Ponca City. Debbie graduated from PO HI in 1971.

Debbie married her high school sweet heart, Jeff Tucker in Fairfax, OK on May 29, 1971. Two children were born to their union; daughter, Barbara Tucker and son, Jeffery Todd Tucker, followed four years later. A few years later, a move to Ponca City and new job occurred. Debbie married Sonny Cannon, where they merged two families together; Cliff and Bobby Cannon and Barbie and Todd.

A few years later in 2000, she moved to Angel Fire, New Mexico, where she still loved the outdoors and her animals. She made great friends there and loved her time in Angel Fire, before moving back to Ponca City in 2008 to be near her only grandchild, Avery.

At a high school reunion, Debbie reconnected with fellow classmate, Joe Nimmo. While living in the country, she enjoyed her artwork, camping, cooking, fishing and was an avid Oklahoma State fan. The two enjoyed a lot of good times around a camp fire or standing on a dock fishing.

She leaves behind her daughter, Barbie Spore and her husband, John, of Ponca City, son, Todd Tucker Cannon of Oklahoma, City, OK; granddaughter, Avery Lark; sister, Ruth Ann Yates Lingenfelter and her husband, Butch, of Enid, OK, her companion, Joe Nimmo, of Ponca City, OK, niece, Amy Ware; nephews, Rod and Ryan Lingenfelter and her beloved Macaw, Mimbo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, K.A "Pop" and Ruthie Kimbell, Euell and Jenny Lea Yates; first husband, Jeff Tucker and second husband, Sonny Cannon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601. The family would like for you to leave memories of Debbie at www.troutfuneralhome.com
