Louis L. Canaday passed from this earth on Tuesday, April 26th, 2016.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Mount Hope in Independence, KS.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Louis was born May 5th, 1924, in Centerville, KS. He graduated from Parker High School in 1941. After graduation, he joined the Navy and was sent to Gallups Island to learn Morse code. His service during WW was as Chief Radio Operator aboard a merchant marine ship.
After the war, he began a career with Sinclair Oil Company & Subsidiaries in Independence, KS, which lasted 43 years. His interests included continued HAM radio activities, where he held the highest classification of Amateur Extra License. He was an avid beekeeper, gardener, hunter, fisherman and he enjoyed socializing with his coffee buddies, his radio friends and his Wednesday night VFW group.
Louis and Norma moved from Cherryvale, KS, to Bartlesville in 2012, where his wife currently resides. They joined Bartlesville First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion and Bartlesville Sportsmen's Club.
Louis is survived by his wife, Norma Canaday, of 54 years; his daughter, Cheryl Gates, of Tulsa, OK; his granddaughter, Niki Gates, of Tulsa, OK; daughter Karen (and Bill) Schaid of Richardson, TX; son Jeff Culp of Manhattan, KS; son Greg (and Kay) Culp of Helena, MT; sister Edith Bryant of Tahlequah, OK; sister Virginia Biffle of Edmond, OK; sister Beryl Murphy of Tulsa, OK; brother Glen Canaday of Dennison, TX; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by
his son, Roy Canaday, and his daughter, Nita
Canaday.
