Oran Gene Campbell

Oran Gene Campbell
March 25, 1931 ~ December 23, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Oran Gene Campbell announces his passing after a brief illness, on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the age of 86 years. Known throughout his life as "Gene," he was born in Wayne, Oklahoma on March 25, 1931 to Oran Albert Campbell and Lois Carson Campbell.

While attending Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, he regularly visited family in Lexington and Purcell, Oklahoma, where he met his wife, Audrey Jean Campbell. Gene and Jean married in July 16, 1949 and eventually settled in Oklahoma City where they raised a son, Larry Ray Campbell.

Though Gene began his professional life working for the Oklahoma City Water Service, he found career success in banking. With just a high school education, he started as a clerk for a local bank and worked his way to the executive role of president for several financial institutions prior to his retirement in 1990. In addition, Gene served on the boards of numerous organizations, including the Kiwanis Club in Midwest City and the Oklahoma Banker's Association, as well as an ordaned deacon of the Victory Baptist Church in Purcell, Oklahoma for several years. For the past 6 years, Gene lived in Seabrook, Texas with his son and daughter-in-law, Melissa.

He is survived by his son Larry and wife Melissa Campbell, two granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Campbell; his father and stepmother Oran and Robena Campbell; his sister Paula Wall; and his beloved wife, Jean.

Funeral services for Oran Gene Campbell, 86, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2017 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel, 127 S. Canadian in Purcell, Oklahoma.
