Joe Ed Campbell, Sr., age 64, of Hollis, passed away early Friday morning, February 22, 2013, at Harmon Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Campbell was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on May 8, 1948, to F.C. and Hazel (Browning) Campbell. After attending William James School, in Ft. Worth, he and his family moved to several different places while farming. In the early sixties, they moved to the Hollis area. On February 8, 1968, he married the love of his life, Shirl Campbell, and they spent the next forty-five wonderful years together before his death. On December 25, 1968, they moved to Ft. Worth where Joe began working for Delta Steel until his retirement in 1996, when they moved back to Hollis. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, playing solitaire on his computer and being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Campbell.

He is survived by his wife, Shirl Campbell, of the home; four children, Joe Campbell, Jr. and wife Jacqueline of Gould, Demetria Campbell of Hollis, Kevin Campbell and wife Jamie of Arlington, Texas and Sedrick Campbell and wife Robin of Chicago, Illinois; six grandchildren, Tamisha Campbell, Kaelin Campbell, Jonathan Campbell, Chy’nequa Campbell, Chanod Campbell and Saya Campbell; seven great grandchildren, Kaidyn, ChaNya, Asiah, Milagro, Creed, Caden and Brantley; four sisters, Mary Barlow of Ft. Worth, Flora Archie and husband Sonny of Amarillo, Texas, Lillie Campbell of Ft. Worth and Lois Spivey and husband Albert Carl of Ft. Worth, Texas; three brothers, Frank Campbell and wife Vera of Ft. Worth, Texas, Robert Campbell and wife Joann of Hollis and Bennie Campbell of Hollis along with many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Joe Campbell, Sr., will be at the Calvary Community Church at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013, with Pastor Tyrone Campbell and Pastor Lonnie Watkins officiating. Services are under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home of Hollis

In keeping with Joe’s wishes, his remains will be cremated following the funeral service.

The family will greet friends from 5 until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Harmon County Funeral Home.
