Helen Campbell, age 79, of Washington passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2024.
Helen Louise Campbell was born on August 17, 1944 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, the oldest of three children born to Wallace James Hoelscher and Nettie Marie (Gage) Hoelscher. She was primarily raised in Fort Cobb, where she attended school and graduated with the Longhorns Class of 1962.
Later in her life she met the love of her life Gerald Campbell. The two paired up on several work projects working at Southwestern Bell, and they instantly hit it off. Helen and Gerald were married on May 17, 1980 and the couple shared 43 wonderful years of marriage together. Then Helen lived in various places including Moore and Washington, where Helen and Gerald eventually settled down and made their home. Helen was driven and dedicated to working hard every single day.
She worked at Southwestern Bell for numerous years, demonstrating her strong work ethic. Helen started out as an operator and worked her way up to the position of Area Manager- Customer Premises Technologies of the Telecommunications Services Division. During her time there, she brought in a substantial amount of revenue and received many commendations for her work performance she did, before retiring at the age of 59.
A little while later, she had the opportunity to begin working in the public school system. She was employed at both Washington and Dibble Public Schools. Helen truly loved working with the kids and would take on any role necessary to help them succeed. She lovingly and selflessly dedicated nearly 20 years of her life, helping shape the minds of the younger generations.
Helen truly was one of a kind. She was a go-getter and she had a bold personality that everyone loved. She was spunky, witty, and never missed an opportunity to boss Papa around! In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, tending to her plants, sewing, crocheting, canning, and cooking. More than anything, Helen was a family woman. She was the monarchy, everyone’s go-to person, and the glue that held everything together. She truly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and was always their number one supporter. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and a true friend. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Wallace and Nettie Hoelscher and 2 brothers-in-law.
