Funeral service for Delbert Campbell will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel.
Delbert was born Dec. 30, 1921, on a farm north of Carrier. He attended and graduated from Carrier High School in 1940.
In 1941, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Illinois. While waiting to be accepted into flying school, he started his pilot training in Stamford and Brady, Texas. He graduated from flying school at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas, in November 1942.
He married Lora Lee Dyche in Enid, Okla. They made their first home in Greenville, S.C.
In June 1943, Delbert flew with his crew in his B-25 Bomber from Savannah, Ga., to Australia. He flew 73 missions in the Southwest Pacific before returning to the states in October 1953. After he was honorably discharged from the service as a captain, he returned to Oklahoma.
He retired as manager from Carrier Elevator in Carrier, Okla.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Lora Lee of the home; daughter, Jana of Enid; grandchildren, Joe Jr. and Christy David; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joe, a sister and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carrier Cemetery or Enid SPCA.
