January 30, 1932 ~ May 29, 2014

Tahlequah, OK ~ Funeral services for Jennie Cameron will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 3, 2014 at the Elm Tree Baptist Church with Bro. D.J. McCarter officiating. A wake will be held Monday starting at 5:00 p.m. at 701 Goingsnake Tahlequah, Oklahoma 74464. Services are under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Jennie Cameron the daughter of Charlie Owl Sr. and Nannie (Ross) Owl was born January 30, 1932 in the Lyons Switch Community and departed this life on May 29, 2014 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 3 months and 29 days.

Jennie was an artist and enjoyed many different kinds of art including quilting and basket weaving. Some of her art work has been on display at the Smithsonian Institute for many years. She enjoyed working at the Cherokee Heritage Center in the Village performing her talents in basket weaving. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jennie loved her family and took care of them to the very end. Jennie touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters; 4 brothers and 2 grandchildren.

She is survived by a loving family which includes her daughters Linda Sue Leach-Weavel and husband Aaron of Tahlequah, Norma L. Rock of Tahlequah, Lois Jean Leach-Deason and husband James of Peggs, Wanda Kay Leach-Jones and husband Charlie of Tahlequah, and Mary A. Owl of Sallisaw; her sister Mary Lou Chewey of Stilwell; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.
