Owalah Lu (Honaker) Calhoun
March 14, 1938 ~ April 21, 2021

On Wednesday April 21, 2021 Owalah Lu Calhoun, loving wife to Donald Calhoun and mother of three daughters, passed away at the age of 83.

Owalah Lu Honaker was born March 14, 1938 in Hammon Oklahoma to Richard Woodrow Honaker and Barbara Naomi Honaker. In 1960, Owalah graduated from Southern Nazarene University with a bachelor’s degree in Speech and English. She enjoyed a long professional career in the public school system for 32 years. She is remembered by former students and faculty as an excellent educator and talented teacher.

On August 5, 1960 Owalah married Donald Marston Calhoun, the love of her life. On August 5, 2021, the couple would have celebrated 61 years of love and marriage. Together, Don and Owalah raised three daughters, Shellie, Quenna and Kim.

Owalah is survived by her husband Don Calhoun, daughter Dr. Shellie Dawn Buckley and husband Ron Buckley of Chatfield Texas, daughter Quenna Lu Hanson and husband Kevin Hanson of Choctaw Ok., daughter Kimberly Chalice White and husband Dr. Kevin White of Edmond Ok., nine grandchildren, Curtis Donald Baker and wife Jennifer, Jared P. Hanson and wife Nicole, Caleb L. Baker and wife Lacey, Josh H. Hanson, Cory J. Baker and wife Wyndi, Cameron D. Baker, Maci Dawn Hanson, Lauren Elizabeth White and Jacob Calhoun White; four great-granddaughters Emma Kate Baker, Lillian Jane Baker, Adeline Lucille Baker and Olivia Dawn Baker of Texas, brother Dr. Richard Honaker and wife Benita of Florida and a host of nieces and nephews.
