Katherine Barker Baker Caldwell, known to her family and friends as "Kate" or "Kay," was born at Chalk Bluff, OK, October 31, 1921 to Bill and Maude (Bigby) Barker. In July 1943, she married George H. Baker of Krebs, OK and they began their life together in Kansas City, Missouri, their only child, William "Charles" Baker, was born in June 1944. George passed away in 1976, at that time, Kay relocated back to her hometown of Stilwell, OK, to be close to her sister, Roxie Robbins and her family and long time friends.
She eventually became reacquinted with Ed Caldwell, a high school friend, and widower. They were married in 1981 and spent twent-one wonderful years together before Ed went home to be with the Lord.
She relocated to California, in Mid February 2008, to be close to her son Charles and his wife Connie, and granddaughters Shannon and Lindsey.
Kate went home to be with the Lord on March 20th, 2008 after a long battle with emphysema.
She is survived, and will be missed dearly, by her son Charles Baker and his wife Connie, step-son; Tom Caldwell and wife Sheree of Pryor, OK, sister; Roxie and husband Glen Robbins of Stilwell, OK, brother; Joe Barker and wife Mecy of Durant, OK, step-sister; Betty Jarrett and husband Pat of Durant, OK, granddaughters; Lindsey Baker and Shannon Lewis and husband Kevin, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service and burial will be held on March 26, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA and a memorial service will be held at First Christian Church of Stilwell, OK on Saturday March 29th, 2008.
