Seminole resident Jerenda Gail Calder, 70, passed away at home on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in Seminole, Okla. She was born May 21, 1954, in Holdenville, Okla.
Jerenda is survived by her husband, Gary Don Calder of Seminole; sister Katherine and her spouse Lawrence Minihan of Seminole; brothers, Larry Don York of Dallas, Texas, Darrell York of Del City, Okla., and Ronnie York of Shawnee. Jerenda also leaves behind nieces Tami Minihan Cole of Seminole and Tiffany Minihan Guarnieri of Guthrie, Okla., along with other nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Gertrude York of Shawnee.
Jerenda grew up in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1971. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University and University of Texas at Arlington.
Jerenda was a hairdresser by trade and loved gardening, antiquing, decorating, reading, writing poetry and cooking. She was quick witted and you always knew when she entered the room.
She loved the Lord, her husband Don, her family and her beautiful dog, Rennie. She is leaving behind a hole in the hearts of those who loved her. Our time with her is done for now, but our memories will last forever.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole. A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
