Memorial service for James L. Cain, 67-year-old Waukomis, Okla., resident, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Chuck Coulter will officiate. A private family burial will follow at a later date.
James was born Nov. 15, 1947, in Denver, Colo., to Lewis W. Cain and Mary Alice (Sisk) Cain and died Sunday, July 26, 2015, at his home in Waukomis.
He enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a sonar operator on a ship off of the coast of Vietnam during the war.
After his honorable discharge, he moved to Enid, Okla., where he worked at Vance Air Force Base as a computer programmer for flight simulators and later in supply. He retired due to ill health in 2014. He was very proud of his Naval service.
He was raised a Christian. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He liked to watch stock-car racing and was an OU Sooner football fan.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of the home; three stepchildren, Traci and husband Shannon Broomfield, Kimberly and husband J.T. Cooper, and Jerry Wayne; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one brother, Frank Cain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sue; brother Stevie; and one niece, Melissa.
