Gloria J. Cain Passed away Aug. 6, 2012 at the Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville, Okla. Born April 2, 1929, to James Oscar and Erna C. Sorenson in Lexington, Mass.
Life changed forever for this New England girl when she agreed to meet a young seaman, Miles L. Cain, on a blind date. Miles and Gloria began their 61 years together on Aug. 24, 1951. From that day, they traveled from West Virginia to Cuba, Texas, Hawaii and to California, raising their two children, Donna L. Meadows and Miles Brad Cain. They built long-lasting friendships from coast to coast. Upon Miles' retirement from the Naval Service, they found home in "land locked" Pawhuska, Okla.
Many shared in Gloria's love of animals while she was employed at the Osage Animal Clinic, and, upon her retirement, Gloria found herself traveling again with Miles, but this time on vacations and around the golf course. Gloria will be missed for her humor, her New England accent, her joy of a quiet moment out on their back porch, and how she cherished her family.
She is survived by husband, Miles L. Cain; daughter Donna L. Meadows and husband, Martin; son M. Brad Cain and wife, Kathy; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family and friends celebrated her life on Aug. 12, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Pawhuska.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, 2448 E. 81st Street, Suite 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137.
McCartney's Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
