Randy Lynn Byford

Randy Lynn Byford
March 5, 1959 ~ May 9, 2020 (age 61)

Randy Lynn Byford was born March 5, 1959, in Duncan, Oklahoma and died on May 9, 2020, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma. He was 61 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Byford; daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Abby, Chris and Ford Foshee; son, John Byford; mother, Evelyn Byford, brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Tina Byford; nephews, Dustin, Jason and Brandon Byford and their families. He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Byford.

Randy attended the Liberty and Comanche Schools, and following his graduation from Comanche High School, he attended Oklahoma State University. He was active in both the 4H and FFA, and subsequently carried a life-long loyalty for these programs. During his lifetime, he supported dozens of young people who were raising their show animals.

Growing up on a purebred swine operation near Duncan, Randy was passionate about agriculture and seemed destined to serve in the industry. So, after college, he first worked for Purple Circle Magazine, then as a field rep for both the Chester White Association and the Duroc Magazine.

In 1983, he became a car salesman at Bob Moore Cadillac in Oklahoma City. The next year, he was the company’s top salesperson, quickly moved into a managerial position earning the honor of Master Manager of Distinction in 1989, eventually became a partner. In 2005, he purchased his first auto dealership in Lawton and has since expanded his enterprise to become the owner of Byford Auto Group in Oklahoma City, Fairview, Elk City, Chickasha and Duncan.

Randy was committed to giving back to the things that mattered to him. And, this generous philanthropy was acknowledged, in part, when he received the okPORK Ambassador Award from the Oklahoma Pork Council in 2015. He was also presented with the Distinguished Service Award by the OSU Department of Animal Science in 2014. Then, in 2016 he was the recipient of the distinguished DASNR Champion Award from the OSU Division of Agriculture. Additionally, Randy was a lifetime member of the OSU Alumni Association and was a member of the OSU Foundation Board of Governors since July 2014.

Randy was grateful for those relationships formed through the hog business and the car business…they meant the world to him.

It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Comanche FFA, the Comanche 4H program, or to the Randy Byford Memorial Fund at the OSU Foundation, PO Box 1749, Stillwater, OK 74076-1749.

Online condolences can be made to the family at www.whittfh.com.
