Lonnie Gerald Butler

Lonnie Gerald Butler
February 5, 1950 ~ January 29, 2018

Lonnie Gerald Butler, son of Lonnie and Nina Geraldine (Keeter) Butler, was born on February 5, 1950 in Whitmire, OK and departed this life on January 29, 2018 in Fayetteville, AR at 67 years of age.

He served his country proudly during the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Army. He received several honors some to include the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and 2 overseas bars. Lonnie worked hard to support his family. He wore many hats over his lifetime. Lonnie worked at the Adair County Sheriff's Office and Stilwell Police Department before retiring from Chief of Police on December 15, 2003 after a lengthy law enforcement career. He was saved and baptized at Calvary Southern Baptist Church and currently attended Christie Southern Baptist Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially Thanksgiving at his sister Rowena's. He also enjoyed time spent cattle farming and brush hogging.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Lonnie and Geraldine Butler, sister: Loretta Butler and his son: Lonnie Gerald Butler, Jr.

He leaves behind a loving family that includes his wife of over 37 years: Pheobe Butler of the home near Stilwell, sons: Mark Butler and wife Tiffany, James Brian Butler, both of Stilwell, daughters: Brandy Michelle Girdner and husband Bryan of Stilwell, Laurie Coleman and husband Tommy of Sallisaw, Connie Clark of Stilwell, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Siblings: Rowena Ogden and husband Jerry and Carl Butler all of Stilwell, several nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive him.
