James Scott Butler

May 26, 1927 ~ November 26, 2003

A memorial service will be on Monday, December 1, 2003, 11:00 a.m., at Westchester Baptist Church, 2119 - 20th Street. Pastor Leon Reames and guest Pastor Layton Lynch will be officiating.

James Scott Butler was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, May 26, 1927, to parents James P. Butler and Wanda Webb who preceded him in Death. Also preceded in death by his son, James E. Butler. James went home to be with the Lord on November 26, 2003, at the age of 76.

When growing up James received his education in a Military Academy, he then went to Huntington Beach High, where he was a cheerleader and a member of the swim team. He also attended 2 years at USC.

James was a resident of Kern County for 49 years. He owned Butler Collection Agency and B & B Paralegal. In 1975, he received the Silver Bowl Trophy Award for outstanding leadership with the Collection Agency Association. He was a member of Westchester Baptist Church and the Fastdraw Desperado's Club. James was also quite the outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing.

On November 23, 1945, James married his high school sweetheart, Jean A. Bailey, in San Francisco, California. He later joined the United States Navy defending our country during WW II and the Korean Conflict.

James is survived by his loving wife, Jean; sons, John and Gene, 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, all of Bakersfield.
