Joan Helen Butler, 79, a resident of Prague, Oklahoma died peacefully at her home on June 19, 2026. Joan was born on October 13, 1946 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Joe Cevis Taylor and Letha Louise Story-Taylor. She graduated from Moss High School in 1964. Joan served our country faithfully for 3 years in the United States Navy where she met her future husband. Joan was united in marriage to Robert John “Johnny” Butler on May 26, 1967.

Joan loved serving others. She was a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader and youth camp sponsor for quite a few years. When she retired from Seminole State College, she spent many hours making little quilts and other needed items for the Shawnee Hope Pregnancy Center. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 53 years, Johnny. She is survived by her brother David Taylor and his wife Nellie and their son Lendel; daughter Sallie Harrison and her husband Jeff; son Jimmy Butler and his wife Kelly; grandsons Ty and Heath Butler, Justin and William Harrison; granddaughter Ashley Harrison; and 7 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at Pleasant Home Baptist Church at 10:00 AM Thursday June 25, 2026. Services are under the directoin of Parks Brothers Funeral Services.
