ENID, OK - A private memorial service for Eirene Butler, 70, Enid, will be at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory, Enid.
Eirene was born July 22, 1943, in Rushden, England, and died June 13, 2014 in Enid. She was born during World War II and grew up in England.
In 1962, she married Eugene Butler and moved to San Antonio, Texas, in January 1964. They made their home in Enid in 1979. Eugene passed away in 1980. Eirene raised two teenagers on her own. She always found a way to work and pay the bills and put food on her table. She later went to work at the U.S. Post Office and retired after 24 years of service. Eirene worked hard to put her children through college. She loved animals and throughout the years was adopted by many dogs and cats. Eirene attended Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Tracey.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Mike and Kristy Butler, Longview, Texas; three grandchildren, Amy and Melissa Butler and Alexxandra Gregory; and two brothers, Lawrence and David Steel.
