Virgie "Gigi" (Rambo) Burton

Virgie "Gigi" (Rambo) Burton
January 10, 1936 ~ June 24, 2021

Virgie Rambo Burton (Gigi) Born in Hartshorne, OK on Jan 10 1936 to Calvin and Edra Rambo. Virgie passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on June 24th 2021 in Tulsa OK. Virgie grew up with 2 sisters, Rosie and Minnie, along with brother Calvin (CP) Rambo.

She graduated from Henryetta High school in 1954. In high school she was a cheerleader for 4 years, named Valentine Queen and Football Queen, attended many banquets and was a member of the First Baptist Church. After graduation she put herself through the secretarial program at Okmulgee tech, and moved to Tulsa where she found a job. She met Bob Burton, a salesman, who noticed her sitting at her desk each time he passed the window of her office. They married in January of 1957 and had 5 children, Jennifer, Julie, Jeannette, Jonathan and Joel.

Gigi loved children and chocolate! She never tired of talking about her kids and grandkids. She would listen for hours with interest to all our stories with endless enthusiasm every time! She was crazy about babies and an excellent nurturer of children. There will never be anyone who listens as closely to every nuance ever again. Gigi was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

She loved her home and was a proud homemaker. Her house was always clean and beautifully decorated. She worked hard to make every holiday and birthday special and exciting. She was very creative and made special treats and her famous cinnamon rolls for Christmas. Every holiday we would wake up to delightful valentines, Halloween goodies, beautiful Easter baskets, 4th of July decorations for our bikes and Christmas was a like a winter wonderland!

She had a great sense of humor, there was always laughter! She had an eye for fashion and always looked beautiful. She loved nature and knew names of trees, birds and flowers. She was a curious and life long learner.

After she raised her children, her love for children and familiy lead her to a long and enjoyable career as a nanny to 3 amazing families. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Burton(husband Leon Harvey), Julie Dabbieri (husband Jonathan Dabbieri) Jeannette Ellis (husband Bob Ellis), Jonathan Burton, Joel Burton (wife Melissa Burton) and her grandchildren Justin Burton, Grace and Hope Dabbieri, Anna, Evie and Peter Ellis, Daniel, Isabel and Calvin Burton, Great grandchildren Roseanna and Chrysanthemum Hinkle, Stone and River Burton. Her dear sister, Minnie Lewis, many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as special friends Allison and Carolyn Vincent who she helped raise as their family Nanny for many years.
