Thelma Aline (Kenyon) Burton
June 17, 1919 ~ July 8, 2018

Thelma Aline (Kenyon) Burton, 99, beloved mother and grandmother, died on July 8, 2018 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Thelma was born on June 17, 1919 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to Clara and Maurice Kenyon. Growing up on a farm in Oklahoma, she lived through the Dust Bowl, the Great Depression, not to mention having and caring for a baby during WWII. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Home Economics. In 1941, she married Clifford Burton, whom she met at school in Loveland, Ok. After World War II, the couple lived in Washington, Oklahoma. In the mid - '50's, they moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma where Clifford was a State Dairy Specialist for Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension Service.

Thelma was active in many social organizations and the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater. She loved to play bridge and entertain friends in her home.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband and brother Harlan Kenyon. 

She is survived by her children, Carol Walton (Bill) of Cherry Hill, NJ, Bob Burton (Karen) of Stillwater, OK, and Bill Burton (Julie) of Tulsa, OK; her six grandchildren and twelve great -grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church or favorite charity.
