Robert Edwards Burton

Robert Edwards Burton
August 15, 1964 ~ October 11, 2020

Memorial services for Robert Edwards Burton will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2020, at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Robert Edwards, son of Bertha (Hillyer) Burton-Terrill and the late Hugh Burton, was born on August 15, 1964, in Peoria, Illinois, and passed away on October 11, 2020, in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Robert and his family moved to Oklahoma from Illinois in early 1968. He attended Alva Public Schools through his junior year of high school and graduated with the Class of 1982 from Carmen-Dacoma High School. During his life he lived in many states, making countless friends along the way. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on cars. In his late teens he began working in the oilfield with his older brother. He also worked as a roofer and EMT. Rarely was there a time that Robert would not have a trusted pet alongside him, his favorites being dogs (his four-legged buddy, Hoss, was with him until the end) and snakes. His favorite holiday was Halloween; he loved sharing his talents in building haunted houses, creating props and costumes.

Robert is survived by his mother, Bertha Burton-Terrill; children, Krista Hochhalter, Scott (Alexandria) Burton, Brittany (fiancé Jared Larsen), Luke Bolar and Lance Bolar; grandchildren, Breanna and Steven Thompson, Jared Hochhalter; Jacob and Reagan Burton; Aiden, Madison and Austin Burton, his longtime companion, Cheryl Rolls. Siblings include, Ruthie (Alfred) Spurgeon, Ralph (Loree) Burton, Rene (Rick) Boling, Richard (Koleta) Burton, Rita Castleberry, Judy (Tom) Verdum and sister-in-law Dee Hillyer; as well as many nephews, nieces and extended family.

Preceding him in death were his father Hugh Burton, stepfather Donald (Jake) Terrill, brothers David Hillyer, James Burton, John Burton, Hugh Burton Jr., and Joe Burton, sisters Jane (Dennis) Highland, Rebecca Kilmer-Stith, Roberta Burton, Regina Burton, and Robin Burton; nephews Christopher Mallonee and Elliot Burton.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Marshall Funeral Home.
