Burt, Myrtle Alice, 70, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born September 19, 1941 in Norman to Rene and Winnie (Whitten) Clouse. She was united in marriage on June 23, 1961 in the Tinker Air Force Base Chapel to George Patrick Burt.
Myrtle attended the Guthrie Schools and later attended Central State College. She enjoyed reading, football and watching the OU Sooners. She also enjoyed gardening and going to the casino. Myrtle was employed with Hartford Insurance. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and family and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Myrtle is survived by her husband, George “Pat” Burt of the home; son, David Burt and wife Christy of Norman; daughter, Cynthia Burt-Veal of Norman; brother, James Clouse and wife Noreen of Edmond, OK; sisters, Carolyn Thompson and husband Ted of Norman, Sarah Stanfield of Riverside, CA, and Ann Auwen and husband Alton of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Ashley Veal, Carley Veal, Jason Burt and Kyle Hartman and wife Natalie all of Norman; nephews, Tim Thompson and wife Cindy of Norman, Jon Thompson of Norman and Lance Clouse of Guthrie, OK; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ross Clouse.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church, 200 W. Hayes, Norman.
Arrangements for Myrtle and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
