George “Pat” Patrick Burt, 73, of Norman passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014. He was born January 12, 1941 in Durham, North Carolina to George L. Burt and Rachel (Tomlinson) Burt. He was united in marriage on June 23, 1961 in the Tinker Air Force Base Chapel to Myrtle Alice Burt.
George was a professional engineer at SW Bell and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Tinker Air Force Base Honor Guard. He enjoyed gardening and going to the casino. Pat also enjoyed watching OU Sooner football, the Dallas Cowboys and the Professional Golf Association tournaments. He was a fan of NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Jr. George was a family man and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rachel Burt and his wife, Myrtle Burt. George is survived by his son, David P. Burt (and wife Christy) ; his daughter, Cindy Rae Burt-Veal; his sister, Caroline (Bunny) Gleaton (and husband Lee) of Seminole, Florida; his four grandchildren, Ashley Rae Veal, Carley Ann Veal, Jason Patrick Burt, and Kyle Wayne Hartman (and wife Natalie); one great grandchild, Gryffyn Hartman; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church 200 W. Hayes St. in Norman.
