Genevee was born July 10, 1918 in Eastland County, Texas, to Roy Haden and Cecil K. (Vandiver) Miller. She married Alton R. Burns on September 24, 1938, and they were married for 53 years, until Alton's death in 1992. Genevee spent most of her married life in Odessa, Texas, where she raised her daughter, Nancy, and worked as a salesperson at the JoAnn Shop department store.
Genevee, who was alternately known as "Nana" and "Genie," was always smiling and loved life. She cared deeply for her family and spent her life taking care of and helping others. Her family will always remember and appreciate her for being a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, who was always funny, lighthearted and happy, and did so much for them. Her family credits her with creating a foundation of stability, strength, and love for them. She could always be counted on and would do anything she could for those in her life. She loved pretty clothes, earrings, and lipstick and always had a pack of Doublemint gum in her purse. Her home was always welcoming and tidy, there were always M&M's to eat, and dinner was always just minutes away. She will be missed very much, but we are also happy that she has arrived in her heavenly home and been reunited with so many loved ones that she'd missed terribly over the years.
Genevee is survived by daughter Nancy Madison and husband Brett of Bartlesville; granddaughter Whitney Dyer and husband Jay of Bartlesville; granddaughter Reagan Madison Fort and husband Justin of Owasso; 4 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton R. Burns; her parents, Roy and Cecil Miller; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers.
