James Ray Burgess

June 9, 1950 ~ Sept. 11, 2016

The Memorial Service for Ray Burgess, 66, is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Miller officiating.

Ray was born to J.B. and Judith (Spindle) Burgess on June 9, 1950, in Enid, and passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, in Enid.

Ray grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School. He served in the Army National Guard, and then worked at Evergreen for many years.

On July 10, 2000, Ray married Janet Travis. He collected knives and enjoyed riding motorcyles. Ray loved his family.

Ray is survived by his wife Janet; children, Donald Burgess and Mike Burgess, both of Enid; Robert Plummer, of Yukon; Dorinda Plummer, of Enid; and Russell Corley, of Tuttle; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Betty Mongold and Sherry Smith, both of Enid.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy; and sister, Debra Crossland.
