Duane Dale Burger

Duane Dale Burger
October 15, 1945 ~ July 18, 2018

Duane D. Burger, 72 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Navy.

Duane Dale Burger was born October 15, 1945 in Wellington, Kansas to Alford Raymond and Velma Dea (Cochran) Burger. Duane grew up in South Haven, Kansas and graduated from South Haven High School. He attended college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. 

Duane was inducted into the United States Navy on August 19, 1963 and served on the USS UTE (ATF-76) which was known as the "Spirit of 76". He served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on October 3, 1966.

After his discharge from the Navy, he moved back to Wichita, Kansas and worked at Structure Engineers from 1967 until 1976. He then went to work for Woodward Beaver Express in 1977 and continued working there until 2006. 

Duane was a member of the First Christian Church in South Haven, Kansas. He loved spending time with his children, his family and his friends.

He is survived by two daughters: Jennifer L. Blehm, Dea D. Burger; one brother, Raymond Burger; three sisters: Donna Mohney and husband Don, Arlene Johnson and husband Butch, and Marva Reeves and husband Bill; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alford and Velma and one sister Patsy Scott.
