Thomas Alan Buchanan, 69, of Bartlesville, died at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.

Celebration of Life services for Mr. Buchanan will be held at 7 P.M. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Lynn officiating. Friends who wish may call for visitation until the service hour on Wednesday as the casket will remain closed at the services.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to: The Living Truth Fellowship, 7399 N. Shadeland, Suite 252, Indianapolis, IN 46250, of which Tom was actively involved and a supporter of.

Mr. Buchanan was born at Columbia, Missouri at the Boone County Hospital on March 30, 1944 to John Henry and Margaret M. (Galles) Buchanan. He attended and graduated from David A. Hickman High School Columbia, Missoiru in 1961.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years, graduated Honorman (First in Class) at the U.S. Naval Station Memphis, Tennessee in 1964. He spent 3 years in Olathe, Kansas as an Aviation Electronics instructor at the station.

Following his Honorable Discharge he went to work with Bendix (a prime-contractor to the Atomic Energy Commission in Kansas City, Missouri.) He graduated from Pittsburg State University in Kansas in 1977 with a BS in Computer Science and Minors in Electronics Technology and Mathematics. While at PSU he was part of the college WOW Ambassador program. He was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company as a Programmer Analyst in Bartlesville from 1978 to 2007.

He was married to Wendy J. Spencer on December 26, 1986 and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2007. On November 1, 2008 he passed all of the FCC's licensing for extra-class radio amateur. He was a member of the Bartlesville Amateur Radio Club.

Mr. Buchanan is survived by nieces and nephews, Sheri, Donna, Kevin and Dale Buchanan all of Underhill, Vermont, his mother-in-law, Eva Birch of Midland, Michiga, two brother-in-laws, Charles Birch and timothy Birch, both of Midland, Michigan, a sister-in-law, Jana Havern and husband Bob of Waterford, Michigan, a special friends, Bernadette and Randy Keaton, Earl Boesl, Robert S. Jones and Rudy Harris all of Bartlesville.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Buchanan and John William Buchanan, a sister, Patricia Buchanan, his mother and father and a nephew, John Buchanan of Underhill, Vermont. Friends who wish may sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.stumpff.org.
