Marcia Dee (Arnold) Buchanan

Marcia Dee (Arnold) Buchanan
October 25, 1950 ~ June 18, 2022

Marcia Dee Buchanan, 71, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away with her husband, Ronnie Buchanan, at her side on June 18, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the Candlewood Chapel of Ford Funeral Service in Del City, OK.

Marcia was born October 25, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Frank and Mildred Winona “Winnie” Arnold. She had four brothers: James, Richard, Mark, and Timothy. After graduating from Midwest City High School in 1968, she took a job as an aircraft mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base where she worked for over ten years. After that, she was inspired to start her own business, Grandmother’s Attic, an antique and country gift store, which she successfully ran for several years in the 80s. Then in 1995, she went to work at Southwest Airlines, where she met a whole new family of lifelong friends. She worked there until her retirement in 2007.

Marcia married Ronnie Buchanan, the love of her life, in 1971 and would remain happily married for more than 50 years. Marcia gave birth to two children, Russel, who was born on her birthday, October 25, 1969, and Jeromy who was born on October 16, 1975. She was an attentive and loving mother who took the time to get to know her neighbors and her children’s friends. Marcia never met a stranger. She was a kind soul who loved and wanted the best for everyone. She loved shopping but rarely for herself. Her love language was gift giving, and those who knew her in any capacity at all were likely showered in gifts. She loved her family and friends more than her luggage, to the moon and back, and 1000 times more than that! She loved the Lord deeply and often prayed with loved ones, and sometimes strangers, who were suffering or needed words of hope. Marcia’s irrational and irrepressible kindness knew no limits, and that is her legacy and example to all lucky enough to know her!

Marcia is survived by her husband, Ronnie Buchanan, of Midwest City, OK; children, Russel Buchanan of Oklahoma City and Jeromy and Crystal Buchanan of Midwest City; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Kathy Buchanan of Sparks, OK, Amanda Carreon of Oklahoma City, OK; Jessica Lopez of Oklahoma City, OK, Jennifer Rhodes of Oklahoma City, OK, Morgan Buchanan of Moore, OK, Noah Blackburn of Midwest City, OK, Emily Blackburn of Midwest City, OK, Raven Buchanan of Moore, OK, Anna Blackburn of Midwest City, OK, and Brayden, Juni, and Zadreain Buchanan of Midwest City, OK; siblings, Richard Arnold of Del City, OK, Mark Arnold of Moore, OK, and Timothy Arnold of Corpus Christi, TX; OK; her dogs, Paisley and Willie; and numerous other in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces, and great grandchildren.

Marcia was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Winona Arnold, on March 17, 1993; her father, Frank Louis Arnold, on May 23, 1995; her brother, James Charles Arnold, on May 17, 2014; and her daughter in-law, Debbie Buchanan, on October 5, 2020.

Donations in her honor can be made to St. Jude’s or Positive Tomorrows.
