Alma Jean (Blackwell) Buchanan
April 28, 1935 ~ July 26, 2025

Alma Jean Buchanan, of Fargo, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away Saturday July 26, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 90.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held at Billings Funeral Home in Woodward, Oklahoma at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 30, 2025. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will then be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens (City of Lubbock Cemetery) at 2:00pm Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Jean was born April 28, 1935 to Margaret (Bagley) Blackwell & Alva Monroe Blackwell in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she was raised. She became a loving housewife to Herbert Buchanan in Amarillo, Texas before creating their home together in Lubbock, Texas.

Jean loved her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, as well as spending time with her family, sewing & crafting, baking her famous fried pies, loving on babies & children throughout her life, and fellowshipping with her church family.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret (Bagley) Blackwell and Alva Monroe Blackwell; sister, Ana Faye Jackson; brother, Dean Blackwell; son, Jerry Lee Harrison; sons-in-law, Jeff Allen and Pat Johnson; and granddaughters, Tara McLane and Brandi Harrison.

Jean will be missed by those who survive her: sisters, Betty Long, of Arkansas and Louise Hackett of Texas; brother Eldon Blackwell, of Braggs, OK; daughters, Sue Allen of Fargo, OK and Joyce Johnson of Plainview, TX; daughter-in-law Linda Harrison of Fargo, OK; as well as 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren & 1 great-great grandchild.
