Virginia (McCray) Brown

Virginia Brown age 87 of Lexington, formerly of Edmond, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Lexington Nursing Home. She was born November 4, 1925 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of three children born to Zollie M. McCray and Dola Mae Shipley. Virginia grew up a farm girl while attending school in Wynnewood. She later moved to the Midwest City area where she met and married Homer W. Brown in 1946. They later moved to South Oklahoma City where they raised their four children.

Virginia worked as a stay at home mom and homemaker while her children were growing up. After they were raised she worked several years in a school cafeteria in south OKC. In 1975 she and Homer moved to North Edmond where she enjoyed being in the outdoors, gardening and working in her yard. Throughout her life, Virginia had been a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She also was a special sister and a dear friend to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by: Husband: Homer W. Brown, A son: Russell Brown,

She is survived by: One daughter: Debra Jackson and husband Ted of Purcell, Two sons: Don Brown and wife Helen of Cromwell, OK, Randall Brown of Edmond, Two brothers: J. T. McCray, Kenneth McCray and wife Ellen of Pink, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, And many other loving relatives and friends.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Local arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
