Sandra (Sandie) Kay Brown was born November 11, 1941 to George Spencer Ashman and Katheryn Alice (Clarkson) Ashman in Des Moines, Iowa. Sandie spent her childhood years growing up in Des Moines.
Sandie’s family moved to the Pawnee area in 1956, were she attended Pawnee High School, and then moved to the Cleveland area where Sandie graduated from Cleveland High School in 1959. Sandie met the love of her life, Jimmie D. Brown, in July 1956 while working at the Tastee Freez drive-in at Pawnee. Sandie and Jimmie later married in 1959, and have one son, Derek Brown.
Sandie and Jimmie lived in Utah for two years while working for a government defense contractor, and returned to Pawnee in 1961 to operate the family farm, due to the health of Jimmie’s father. In 1965 Sandie went to work for the Tony Thomas Insurance Agency in Pawnee, where she worked for several years and started her career in insurance and real estate. In 1979 Sandie established her own insurance and real estate business in Pawnee.
In the 1980’s Sandie and Jimmie moved to Colorado where they established their business that included real estate services, an independent insurance agency, financial planning and investment services, tax and accounting services, and grew to four office locations.
In 2007, Sandie and Jimmie returned full time to Pawnee, where they continued their real estate business, and Jimmie returned to his love of ranching. Sandie enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, going out to eat instead of cooking anytime, traveling, and helping people with her real estate and insurance services.
Sandie is survived by her son Derek Brown and his fiancée, Carolyn Fisher, both of Pawnee. Sandie was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie, her parents, and numerous friends and family.
