Sam Brown of Bartlesville, OK., died Thursday December 14, 2017 at his home. He was 86.
Sam was born June 4, 1931 in El Paso, TX to Teddy and Marion (Arundell) Brown. He married Sue Richards April 5, 1951 in Phoenix, AZ. She preceded him in death January 31, 2017. His military service encompassed the Field Artillery School, Ft. Sill, OK; the War College in Ft. Leavenworth , KS, and the Pentagon. He fought in the Korean War, and saw two tours of duty in Vietnam. Other overseas postings included Italy and Germany, where he served as a battalion commander. His final duty station was Ft. Eustis, VA at TRADOC, where he retired as a full Colonel.
Sam Brown was God, Country and Family to the core. He was a member of Silver Trowel Masonic Lodge and a Son of the Republic of Texas. He called Williamsburg, VA home for the last 40 years, where he, and the love of his life, enjoyed retirement. He went to the Lord surrounded by his three daughters and son-in-law. We miss him profoundly
Survivors includes three daughters: Cindy Willis and husband Dale of Bartlesville, OK. Gail McGrath of Roseville, CA., and Laura Brown of Stillwater, OK. Three grandchildren: Adam, Colleen, and Denise. Five great grandchildren: Harrison, Danny, Samantha, and Kennedy.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday January 6, 2017 at the Grace Community Church in Bartlesville, OK.
Burial will take place at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
