Dr. Richard Julian Brown
February 14, 1932 ~ November 11, 2017

Dr. Richard Julian Brown, 85, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017. He was born February 14, 1932 to Jesse Raymond Brown and Vivian (Hokans) Brown in Waukegan, Illinois. He attended Waukegan Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1949. Richard went on to attend The University of Illinois and obtained a Veterinary Doctorate Degree in 1956. 

After graduating from college, Richard worked a year at the University of Illinois and then joined the United States Air Force. After serving his country for 2 years, he settled in Norco, CA where he continued his practice specializing in horses. While in Norco, he was very active in city government serving on the planning commission, city council, and as mayor. 

During Richard's senior year of college, he married Marjorie Thompson. They were blessed with a son, Daniel Matthew, in 1959. This marriage later dissolved. 

On May 19, 1962, Richard married Ilene Ellis. They were blessed with three sons, Paul Michael, Christopher Phillip, and David Jacob. In 1978, Richard moved his family from California to a 320 acre farm near Wainwright, Oklahoma where he continued his practice for several years as a large animal mobile care veterinarian. 

On May 5, 1989, Richard married Margaret Jones Agent. They continued to live on the farm until 2013 when they sold out and moved to a smaller place and closer to Muskogee. 

Known to many as "Doc Brown", he will be greatly missed. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Brown and Vivian Brown Swanson; and his brother, Raymond Savage. 

Richard is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, Paul Brown (Becky) of Oktaha, Chris Brown (Dana) of Wainwright, David Brown (Tandy) of Muskogee; and Matthew Brown of Cody, WY; stepchildren, Allison Holt (Mike), Stephen Agent, all of Muskogee; step granddaughter, Mika Conn, of the home; grandchildren, Nick Brown (Kayla), Heather Brown, Sarah Bible (Jesse), Kathryn Yarbrough (Blake), Conner Brown (Kalah), Kyle Brown, Summer Brown, Caleb Brown; step grandchildren. Alex Hinkle, Lindsey Hinkle, and Mallie Holt; 7 great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends. 

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30PM, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. 
Funeral services honoring Richard's life will be 11AM, Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jesse Bible officiating.
